TPS Rover Crew Investiture Ceremony

On March 7, 2016, the School of Social and Community Services and the TPS of the 22 Division hosted the annual TPS Rover Crew Investiture Ceremony.

About the Investiture Ceremony

The 22 Division Toronto Police Service Rover Crew is a vocational Scouts Canada group consisting of students aged 18-26 from Humber College’s School of Social & Community Services working in collaboration with the Toronto Police Service to provide service to their communities through volunteering, and additionally improving themselves as individuals through education, Scouting activities and police-related experiences.

Every year for the past thirteen years around February or March we host an event called an investiture at the Toronto Police College. An investiture is a ceremony where we officially 'invest' our new members that joined the previous calendar year in September. This officially makes them members of our Rover Crew. We invite our friends, family, Humber faculty, fellow members of Scouting, and representatives of the Toronto Police Service to the ceremony. The Toronto Chief of Police (or a representative if they are unavailable) is tasked with the actual investing as they perform the actual ceremonial action of placing the new Rover's Necker (the scarf we hang around our necks) over their head. Other members of the Rover Crew that have been invested in previous years and are current members also attend to support the new ones and all of our Advisors attend; these are the Toronto Police Service members that run our team.
