COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP EVENT

On May 18th, 2018, the School of Social and Community Services hosted its Annual Community Partnership Appreciation event to recognize and celebrate the partner agencies who host the students at the SSCS. This event is one of the ways that the SSCS is helping Humber to maximize the impact of partnerships. Events such as these not only builds community but it also helps to provide future opportunities for students beyond field placements.

Over 75 guests attended this year’s celebration which began with a VIP breakfast to recognize the partners of distinction. Derek Stockley, the Dean of the SSCS, and Placement Manager Corina Ivory addressed the guests and distributed Awards of Distinction to each organization.

Attendees were then invited to professional development sessions led by Lynn vanLieshout, Nivedita Lane, Jennifer Larson, Sue Eason, and Nora Simpson. Topics included:

  • Grant Writing 101
  • Collaborating with Humber on Projects and Applied Research
  • How to Deal with Difficult Students
  • Navigating Disability-Related Accommodations for Students and Employees

We would like to thank the Field Placement Coordinators, workshop facilitators, faculty advisors, staff, faculty, student volunteers and agency partners who participated in this celebration. We truly value and appreciate all the work that you do for our students. Thank you to all of our agencies for your continued support and partnerships.
