Overview

Case managers need to be able to develop nontraditional resources that can support and assist their clients.

This course focuses upon the identification, development, and utilization of these nontraditional resources. Examples include: helping to map someone's social network, how to locate and approach nontraditional community resources like neighbourhood groups, and how to bring members of an individual's social support network together to confront difficult to reach goals and major life changes. Person-centred planning approaches are discussed, as are support circles and securing individualized funding for clients and families.
