Overview

This course is designed to develop knowledge and understanding of the current status and future choices concerning Canada's social welfare system.

The course will encourage students to understand current social and economic trends and their impacts on social welfare programs within a historical context. Students will learn how to analyze social policies and their consequences for community members, social service workers, nonprofit organizations, and government.

Prerequisite

To register for this course, you must be accepted as a part-time Social Services Worker (SSW) student by completing an application package and meeting basic requirements. Full-time SSW students must have the permission of the part-time SSW co-ordinator in order to take this course.
