Participants will study project planning from identifying a need, through the project charter, project plan, RFPs, choosing the right consultant(s), project administration and delivery.
Best practices will be discussed, as well as a review of successful projects and projects that failed to deliver. All phases of the procurement process will be studied including: from planning to spec writing; to bidding; to awarding the contract. Participants will look at procurement law and will be introduced to municipal procurement spending limits. Understanding the differentiation between and when to utilize Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Quotes (RFQ) and Requests for Proposals (RFP) will form part of the learning.
