This course will introduce students to transformative pedagogies for facilitating critical thinking and consciousness raising towards social change. Students will examine how social change. Students will examine how social identities such as varying abilities, class, gender, race, sexual orientation influence social locations, assumptions, perceptions, power dynamics and world views. By learning about anti-racism feminist pedagogies and dialogical approaches students will learn to motivate communities of interests and stakeholders to critically reflect, ignite personal agency, capacity, inspire hope, possibilities and become catalysts for transformation. In this course students will be introduced to traditional and transformative pedagogical theories including the use of digital technologies and resources. Additionally, students will explore, examine and experience a variety of transformative pedagogies that might be employed to engage and inspire communities to affect purposeful social change action.
