This course explores the fundamentals of low-rise residential building construction, types of structures, and structure designs, as well as the impact of building construction on fire fighting. Students will study the forces that impact these structures and the codes applied to residential buildings and fire safety. They will also learn how low-rise residential buildings are constructed and how fire behaves with various building materials. Students will also study the potential impact of renovation and rehabilitation on building Integrity under the Impact of fire. The impacts of residential lightweight construction will be examined.
