In this course, students identify and discuss from various perspectives, issues that have hindered positive community or public safety relationships between security/police officers and citizens. Students develop awareness of issues around discrimination, racism and intolerance. Social justice and the provision of social services are critically examined. Students learn that by increasing understanding of diversity, security professionals can guard against unnecessary bias and stereotyping and better integrate their professional duties with the needs of a diverse population.
