Trip Overview

In May 2015, a group of FSCS students and Faculty traveled to Guatemala for an enriching learning experience in partnership with Cross Cultural Solutions. A key aim of the trip was to engage students in a reflective cross-cultural learning experience that tackled issues of personal and situational social location, differential learning, and skills building.

Credit: Students participating on this trip were eligible to accrue placement hours and gain valuable international service learning experience.

Program Highlights:

  • Students worked closely with community members on the Achi Child Nutrition Program
  • Participated in cultural activities such as Spanish lessons, cooking classes, discussions on current issues impacting Guatemala, and lectures on the history of Guatemala
