Crime scene photography is often about "getting the shot" in the worst of conditions. Our students take their high-end digital cameras out in the rain and brave frigid January temperatures at night to capture crime and accident scenes for their course assignments. Along the way, they learn about digital imaging theory and techniques that apply to all areas of photography. Students are encouraged to submit contest photos every two weeks on themes such as: image design, revealing texture, capturing motion, maximizing depth of field, painting with light, and macro (close-up). In the end, over 300 contest photos were submitted. CSI students conducted the initial screening process, with faculty selecting the three top images. Thanks to all our students who submitted images, with special congratulations going to Rafael Dos Santos capturing first place, Adam Rego (2nd) and Ivanka Barakova (3rd). All winners receive a CSI sweatshirt, a Canon note-book, and a one-year subscription to Outdoor Photography magazine. Rafael will also be taking home a brand new $400 tripod to support the development of this valuable career and life skill.
