Mona Munro has been teaching in Humber’s Gerontology program for many years teaching Interpersonal Skills and Counselling with Older Adults at the Humber North Campus and more recently at Humber Lakeshore Campus. She is an experienced gerontological social worker who has honed her skills working in the community and at a major geriatric centre providing counselling, information and education to individuals and families, resolving family conflicts, coping with cognitive and physical impairments and planning for future care. She lends her insight to topics such as caregiver stress, helping families cope with their elderly relative living in the community, planning for placement of older persons in residential facilities and the adjustment issues for the resident and family that follow placement, crisis management, end of life issues and bereavement. She has been a guest speaker for various community groups, as well as television, radio and newspaper interviews. She is also an author of magazine and journal articles on aging.
