The competition is for students from undergraduate justice-related programs across Ontario (i.e. Police Foundations, Criminal Justice, etc.) to compete against one another in teams of three in a simulated crime scene investigation. The purpose of the skills competition is to provide a realistic and stimulating investigation that tests students’ critical thinking, teamwork, crime scene proficiency, forensic knowledge, interviewing skills, and collegiality abilities.
Students will then be judged on their ability to process a crime scene that including photography, sketching, interviewing, crime scene management, and processing. At the end of the event, students will hear from the lead investigator from Toronto Police Service Homicide and Missing Persons Unit who will present a case study and debrief the case.
