Please tell us about your time at Humber College. What was the best part of it?
My time at a Humber college was great! Throughout my time attending classes in person, I always felt supported by my professors and classmates even when our classes transitioned to online. The professors at Humber college always provided real life examples while teaching that caught my interest while being in the program. They always knew how to make us feel engaged and interested in what we were learning, which I felt set us up for success outside of the classroom. The best part of my time at Humber college was hanging out with friends and even though we were stressed during exams we could always have a laugh to feel better and know that everything will be okay.
Please tell us about your experience since graduating.
My experience ever since graduating from Humber College has been great! When I graduated, I worked alongside one of the professors at Humber college as a Jr. Private investigator as I was still looking for active full-time employment. Shortly after, I received a full-time role working at RBC as an inbound fraud analyst where I would handle inbound fraud calls for our credit card department and then got promoted to being a digital fraud officer where I would be handling more fraud, account takeovers, etc. After a year with RBC, in 2022 I got a role in my current position at BMO in the Financial Crimes Unit as a complaints Investigator where I investigate cases/claims and actively interview clients since they have been a victim of fraud.
What do you find most satisfying about your career choice?
The most satisfying thing about my career choice is knowing I am actively making a difference in stopping potential financial crimes, but also educating people on an everyday basis on how to protect themselves from being a victim of a scam or fraud. It’s extremely rewarding knowing that I can make a small difference by making someone feel heard and by reassuring them that everything will be okay in times where it’s so stressful.
