Christine's Experience at Humber

Please tell us about your time at Humber College. What was the best part of it?

My journey at Humber College commenced in 2019, and the peak of this experience was attaining my Private Investigator's license and achieving my Investigator position, all thanks to the guidance and connections provided by one of my professors – Nigel McCoy. This seamless transition into my desired career path not only marked a significant milestone but also afforded me the opportunity to gain invaluable insights and practical knowledge in the investigative field. Through hands-on learning experiences and mentorship, I absorbed a wealth of information, enhancing my skills and confidence. As a result, I now feel thoroughly equipped and properly educated to excel in my chosen profession. Humber College not only facilitated my academic growth but also served as a springboard for launching my career, fostering a supportive environment where I could thrive and realize my aspirations.

Please tell us about your experience since graduating.

Since graduating, my journey has been marked by continuous growth and advancement. Building upon the strong foundation laid during my time at Humber College, I chose to further expand my expertise by pursuing the bachelor’s degree study in Criminal Justice. The knowledge and skills I acquired during my Private Security and Investigation (PSI) program proved instrumental in seamlessly transitioning into this new phase of my academic and professional journey.

Entering the criminal justice program, I found myself better equipped and more confident, thanks to the comprehensive education I received in my PSI program. This enhanced understanding facilitated a smoother assimilation of new information and concepts, both within my academic pursuits and in my career.

Moreover, I've broadened my professional horizons beyond private investigation, now also serving as a Pre-board Officer at one of the biggest airports -YYZ. Leveraging my robust educational background in law and regulations, the application process for this role was straightforward, reflecting the value of my education in opening doors to diverse opportunities in the field.

What do you find most satisfying about your career choice?

What I find most fulfilling about my career path is the profound sense of purpose it instills within me. Each day, I am driven by the belief that my contributions are actively fostering greater well-being and safety within my community. Whether it's through my role as a Pre-board Officer at the airport or as a Private Investigator, I am deeply committed to serving and protecting others.

This career not only allows me to make tangible contributions to community safety but also provides me with the opportunity to support vulnerable individuals and engage with the diverse fabric of society. By interacting closely with people from various backgrounds and circumstances, I gain invaluable insights into their needs and challenges, allowing me to offer meaningful assistance and build trust.

Furthermore, this profession fosters a profound connection to my community, enabling me to forge genuine relationships and understand the intricacies of its dynamics. Through my work, I strive to create environments where individuals feel safe, supported, and empowered, knowing that each interaction brings us closer to achieving collective well-being.
