Cin's Experience at Humber

Please tell us about your time at Humber College. What was the best part of it?

I started at Humber College for the accelerated Child and Youth Care Practitioner program and very quickly found community within the program and the faculty. My favourite part of my time at Humber and something I greatly appreciated was the ease with which I was able to build and connect to the community.

Please tell us about your experience since graduating.

Since graduating I worked in a couple different roles, but I found my passion in building capacity in individuals, and their communities/support systems. Through my various roles, I’ve found my niche in utilizing drama, roleplay, and art as modalities for my work.

Presently, I work in a school board as a Child and Youth Care Practitioner (CYCP) on their Social, Emotional, and Well-Being team. In this role, I have the chance to support young folks in building their own capacity and staff capacity.

I am also a Master’s degree student, working on research projects about grief and community.

What do you find most satisfying about your career choice?

What I find most satisfying about my career, as cheesy as it sounds, is that in a world where soft skills like loving and caring can be less valued than technical skills, it demonstrates just how important soft skills are. How, in the face of various challenges, connection drives our success.
