Please tell us about your time at Humber College. What was the best part of it?
The instructors attached to the PSI program were well experienced while also having the desire to help others get started. I was so impressed with the credentials of my instructors and felt that who they were was as valuable as the course material itself. Many of them felt like true teachers as well, in that they were interested in my progress. Their value to me extended beyond the classroom time as several offered me advice, mentorship, connections, and opportunities that helped me along the way.
Please tell us about your experience since graduating.
The PSI program was structured in a way that allowed me to take on part time work, related to my program, before I even graduated. The security industry often requires licenses to begin work; Humber provides the steps to those licenses early in the program and I took advantage. I started working with Maple Leaf Sport Entertainment on their Event Security team and saw the front lines of security work. I was hired by a local Private Investigations firm and put to work my OSINT skills as an Online Investigator. By the time I convocated, I had landed full time work in a role I was proud to say was mine. I joined Pinkerton and am embedded with an international manufacturer as an Intelligence Analyst, deploying several skills learned at Humber to protect people, places, and reputations.
What do you find most satisfying about your career choice?
My work challenges me every day in a way that I find satisfying. Corporate Security is a growing field, and is transferable across industries, and to different regions. I need to keep learning new skills to stay on top, but the PSI program gave me the posture and network required to keep on top.
