Please tell us about your time at Humber College. What was the best part of it?
My time at Humber College was truly a wonderful experience. I've met some amazing professors and some friends throughout the years who have helped me succeed through the very end and to where I am at now. I feel that the best part about Humber College would be how inclusive it was and has been throughout my time there. Whether this would be through professors, through my peers I've met throughout the program, through online and in-person classes, being at Humber made me feel included, supported, and provided me such knowledgeable information regarding my career path that I will forever carry with me.
Please tell us about your experience since graduating.
My experience since graduating has truly been so amazing. The moment I received my diploma, I was hired as a special needs worker at a before and after school program connected to a school in Peel Region. Shortly after, I was then hired to work at that very same school in between those shifts, working with children ages 4-14. As this is my first year working throughout this career since receiving my diploma, I have experienced so much and obtained so much knowledge, and feel that this will continue as this career goes on.
What do you find most satisfying about your career choice?
What I find the most satisfying about this career choice would be being able to establish a relationship and connection with the children. I feel that at times it can be quite difficult to initiate conversations at first with some children, especially due to trust issues, past trauma, past experiences, etc. Therefore, establishing a connection with the children is overall one of the greatest feelings in this type of field.
