Coldest Night of the Year: A Collaborative Effort by CJS and PFP Students for a Worthy Cause

Students and faculty from the Community and Justice Services and Police Foundations programs united to exceed their fundraising goal, raising an impressive $1,450 for Haven on the Queensway. On Saturday, February 22nd, FSCS students and faculty (including Tonia Richard, Shara Stone and Fisseha Yacob-Belay), as well as Student Support Advisor Kourtney Pamela-Clarke, took part in the national Coldest Night of the Year walk, a 5 km “winterrific,” family-friendly fundraising march in support of charities that support people experiencing hurt, hunger and homelessness. By walking in solidarity, they gained a deeper understanding of the struggles faced by those experiencing homelessness, reinforced their commitment to serving their communities, and highlighted Humber’s dedication to community engagement.

With the overwhelming success of this FSCS initiative in its inaugural year and the positive feedback from students, we aspire to make it an annual event and look forward to extending an invitation to programs across the Faculty to join us in the years to come.
