Dr. Doug Thomson and Dr. Emma Smith Receive the President’s Research Award

This summer, FSCS faculty member Dr. Doug Thomson, and Associate Dean of Research & Development, Dr. Emma Smith, were awarded the Humber President’s Research Award for their research with the Toronto Police Service on the expansion of the Neighbourhood Community Officer Program. In partnership with the Toronto Police Service, their research has helped to analyze and enhance the effectiveness of the Neighbourhood Community Officer Program (NCOP) throughout select neighbourhoods in Toronto. The Neighbourhood Community Officers aim to move away from the traditional policing model of crime control and more towards community wellness and engagement.
