DSW Grad Launch
Tags: Vol. 4, June 2024, Issue 2
On April 8th, 2024, the Developmental Services Worker (DSW) program celebrated the graduating class of 2024. As part of the Semester 4 Work Integrated Learning course, DSW students and faculty gathered to recognize the achievements of the soon-to-be graduates. The event featured a presentation by two program alumni, Vanessa Visconti and Claire O’Neill, who now work full time at SickKids Hospital in Toronto within the ABILITY Program. Vanessa and Claire shared their experiences in the DSW Program and how it prepared them for the opportunities they have had to date. Their current roles involve working with children and youth who have developmental and intellectual disabilities, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, as well as other medical and mental health challenges. Claire also spoke about her further studies in the Bachelor of Behavioural Science (BBS) program at Humber College. Both Claire and Vanessa are exceptional ambassadors to the DSW program, and their insights served as valuable inspiration for current students, who appreciated the opportunity to learn from their success.
