Ontario College Fair – Oct 18 & Oct 19

FSCS faculty attended the 2023 Ontario College Fair. We helped prospective students discover the different Humber College programs that can help them get to the career they want. It was a wonderful opportunity to learn about campus life, housing and student services. Attendees had the chance to ask questions and gain insight from current students, alumni, and recruitment advisors at all Ontario Colleges. We had a great time meeting new people and future Humber students at our FSCS booth!

Alexandre Boucher Memorial Lecture – Oct 19

FSCS held the annual Alexandre Boucher Memorial Lecture as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. The Annual Alexandre Boucher Memorial Lecture is an event held in memory of Alexandre Boucher, a Criminal Justice Degree student. These lectures are meant to raise awareness about mental health and provide an overview of the supports available to the Humber Community. This year, FSCS invited Sarah Wells, a Canadian Olympic hurdler, to give a lecture on the cultivation of a resilience mindset.

As a 400m hurdler, Sarah Wells has overcome countless challenges and setbacks, including those related to mental health. By emphasizing the importance of process-oriented focus, perseverance, and self belief, Sarah inspired students to forge their own journies of growth and resilience.
