On September 14, the Faculty of Social and Community Services (FSCS) sponsored 4 Protection, Security and Investigation (PSI) students and 1 Police Foundations Program (PFP) student, to attend the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) conference in Niagara Falls, Ontario. The students were greeted at the conference by Dr. Jo-Ann Savoie of the Hamilton Police Service.
PSI student, Naomi Miller, shared these reflections on the event:
“The conference was great! We had the opportunity to listen to some speakers and their stories on past personal life events. After the speakers, there was time for students to meet with Law enforcement recruiters. There were many officers from Hamilton, Niagara, Peel, and Toronto, as well as other districts. The officers were all there to speak with students and answer our questions while also giving us insight into how recruiting works and what we can work on to stand out.”
