Global News on the Legal Considerations within Criminal Investigations
In January, both Global and CBC News interviewed Protection, Security & Investigation faculty member, Kerry Watkins.
The Global News interview arose out of an Ontario murder case in which the accused was questioned and confessed, and in which he incriminated the estranged wife of his victim. Kerry spoke about the legal and methodological considerations involved in questioning suspects in criminal investigations. The interview was included in an episode of the program Crime Beat.
CBC News on Mass Murder in Nova Scotia
The CBC News interview arose out of the mass murder in Nova Scotia in which the wife of the killer was questioned by police.
Kerry spoke about the need to establish evidence based best practice standards for suspect questioning, which currently do not exist in Canada. The interview is to be included as part of a larger story on the tragedy that will appear in video and print and we can expect this interview to air over the next few months.
