Albion Neighbourhood Services

Albion Neighbourhood Services offers a diverse array of engaging and accessible programs aimed at empowering individuals and families within the Rexdale and Jamestown communities. This organization is committed to aligning services with the needs, abilities, and beliefs of these communities, thereby providing a comprehensive and extensive range of services.

Over the years, Albion Neighbourhood Services has been committed to supporting Social Service Worker (SSW) students within their field experiences. These valuable opportunities are primarily centered within their Access Centre. SSW students gain hands-on experience working directly with newcomers to Canada through Settlement Services.

Under the guidance and mentorship of experienced staff, students acquire the skills to provide individualized support to clients, as well as to facilitate workshops covering various essential services, including employment, ODSP (Ontario Disability Support Program), Pension Assistance, and housing. This hands-on experience not only enriches the educational journey of these students but also contributes to the welfare and integration of newcomers in the community.

Davenport Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Services

Davenport Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Services (DPNCHC) is a multi-service agency dedicated to offering vital support to individuals and families who face social and economic challenges. This organization is committed to providing integrated and accessible programs, with the ultimate goal of encouraging positive change, enhancing lives, and strengthening the community.

Despite being a relatively recent partner, DPNCHC has shown a keen interest in engaging Social Service Worker (SSW) students and providing them with mentorship and educational opportunities during their Field Experiences. Within the agency, SSW students play an active role in the Adult Literacy Program, contributing in both classroom and one-on-one settings. Their responsibilities include guiding program participants in enhancing their reading and writing skills, thus equipping them for employment through personalized plans or workshop facilitation. Additionally, students are encouraged to engage in community outreach efforts, where they can refine their networking skills while making a meaningful impact.
