Meet new members of the Faculty of Social and Community Services.

This summer, FSCS faculty member Dr. Doug Thomson, and Associate Dean of Research & Development, Dr. Emma Smith, were awarded the Humber President’s Research Award.

In June 2023, Humber supported four Bachelor of Behavioural Science (BBS) students to attend a conference “A Comprehensive and Compassionate Approach for Addressing Problem Behaviour.”

FSCS students and staff attended the fifth annual fundraiser in support of The Gatehouse, which took place at the Liberty Grand on Oct 5th, 2023.

Protection, Security & Investigation (PSI) faculty Kerry Watkins, was a panelist at the Challenges of Introducing Science-Based Interviewing Methods into Police Practice event.

Instructor Peter Gendi is thrilled to share the captivating moments of teaching students in the Forensic Identification (FI) program the art of examining various surfaces for fingerprints.

Congratulations to Melanie Zuzarte, who received a Child and Youth Care Practioner Excellence Award from the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care.

Another successful Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) took place in September, with students in the Bachelor of Addictions & Mental Health (BAMH) program at FSCS.

An exciting three-part Global Speaker Webinar was held for students in justice programs at the FSCS.

During the spring and summer of 2023, Humber’s Centre for Social Innovation supported the eighth growing season for the GARDENS Project – a partnership with LAMP Community Health Centre.

Congratulations to Bachelor of Community Development (CDEV) graduate Lisa Post, who was nominated for the 2023 Premier’s Award.

Sevval Ogutcu graduated from the Bachelor of Social Science - Criminal Justice (CJ) program in April 2023. Sevval describes her experience at Humber College as fulfilling and remarkable.

Izabella graduated from Humber in April 2023 from the Bachelor of Social Science - Criminal Justice (CJ) Program.

The Humber College Motorola Foundation’s First Response Camp ran for its inaugural session in July 2023.

The Lakeshore library reopened its doors on October 30th.

This September, Humber College conducted their annual Active Attacker Drills.

The Wellness Series, hosted by the Principal’s Office, returned this semester with two keynote speakers.

The fourth annual New Toronto Holiday Market returned on Saturday, November 25 at the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre!

“The Gingerbread Express” rolled into Lakeshore Campus on November 25th, for this year’s Humber Holiday Party!

Grace: One Story of Thousands is a brand-new exhibition presented by the Lakeshore Grounds Interpretive Centre in their main-floor gallery.

With the increased presence of learners on campus, the Interpretive Centre is excited to share that over 1,400 students, staff, and community are participating in historical tours this semester!
