Faculty-Level Academic Appeal

Faculty-Level Academic Appeals with regard to Placement are concerns regarding an academic decision pertaining to probation, termination from placement, academic misconduct or special consideration on the bases of medical, psychological, or compassionate grounds.

If a student has questions relating to any of the issues identified above, the student shall discuss the matter with their Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor. The Program Coordinator and/or Placements and Partnerships Manager may be asked to assist if the Seminar Instructor/Faculty Advisor is unable to resolve the issue.

If a student is not satisfied with the outcome of the review with the Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor and Program Coordinator, the student may submit a request in writing to the Placements and Partnerships Manager requesting a further review to later than ten (10) business days after the end of the term or training period within which the course or unit of instruction was offered. In this request, the student shall provide any and all documentation (for example, medical notes, emails or letters) which may impact the resolution of the appeal. The request should be submitted on a Review an Academic Decision Form. Forms are available from the Office of the Registrar or online: http://www.humber.ca/admissions/how-apply/academic-regulations

The Placements and Partnerships Manager will review the Faculty-Level Academic Appeal and provide a written decision within ten (10) business days of receipt of the request unless both parties have mutually agreed to an extension.

The Placements and Partnerships Manager may consult with and/or refer the student to an ALS Consultant or the Student Support and Intervention Committee. The Placements and Partnerships Manager is responsible to ensure that the result and reason(s) of any and all Faculty-Level Academic Appeals shall be documented and kept on file by the FSCS.
