New and Returning Students
All new and returning students must complete the required documentation by the deadlines set for each term in their respective program of study. Prior to contacting an agency, written permission must be given by the Field Placement Coordinator. In order for the placement to be arranged by the FSCS, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all documentation has been provided to the Field Placement Coordinator before the tenth (10th) day of classes. Without the submission of all required pre-placement documentation, students may not be eligible to attend field placement for that semester. Students who have the required documentation, but have not secured a field placement with the assistance of the Field Placement Coordination may be advised not to remain registered for that course as they may not be in a position to enter the Field.
Field Course Prerequisites and Co-requisites
A student wishing to enroll in a field course for which the student does not have the stated course prerequisites and/or co-requisites must seek permission from the Program Coordinator.
Returning Students: Eligibility to Enter Field Placement
Returning students who wish to register for field courses are advised that such registration is conditional on their eligibility to enter the field. Returning students must provide all required documentation by the deadlines established before the College can confirm a placement; approval of the Program Coordinator and consultation with their Field Placement Coordinator are needed. A student who is required to withdraw for academic or other reasons may not attend field placement and associated field courses.
Course/Timetable Changes after Registration (Added or Dropped Courses)
All course additions to a student’s timetable for a given term are to be completed by the end of the fifth (5th) day of classes from the beginning of the term as indicated in Humber’s Academic Calendar. The addition of a field course after the end of this period will be considered an exceptional circumstance and will require the approval of the Placements and Partnerships Manager. A late fee will apply if a student registers for courses after the registration deadline.
Students without the required documentation and/or an approved field placement are advised to drop field courses prior to the Last Day to Drop a Course for a Refund or Last day to Withdraw from a Course Without Academic Penalty. Please see the 2019-2020 Admission Requirements and Academic Regulations for more information on dropping and withdrawing from courses.
