The term Placement is used to describe the various forms of Work-Integrated Learning which a student undertakes in an agency organization that has been approved by the College. The following terms can be used interchangeably to describe placement: Practicum, Internship, Field Placement, Fieldwork, Experiential Learning, Work-Term, Co-Op Education, Service Learning, Field Project and Job Shadow.
Field Placement Coordinator/Field Placement Advisor: An employee of Humber who is responsible for administering the placement preparation process with students and agencies.
Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor: An employee of Humber who supports the student and Placement Supervisor once they are attending a placement approved by the FSCS via the Field Placement Coordinator.
Program Coordinator: Each program of study has a Program Coordinator who supports students with their academic path and helps facilitate program delivery in general. They consult with the Field Placement Coordinator and advise Faculty Supervisors/Seminar Instructors once students are in the field.
Placement Employer: The employer with whom the student is placed by Humber to receive training as part of the requirements of the student’s program of study.
Placement Supervisor: The supervisor at the placement organization who directs the activities of the placement student and/or who oversees the local workplace during the student’s placement.
Accessible Learning Services Consultant: A member of the Accessible Learning Services (ALS) department in the Student Wellness & Accessibility Center at Humber.
FSCS Representative: Refers to any person in Humber College working with the student including and not limited to: Field Placement Coordinator/Advisor, Program Coordinator, Seminar Instructor, Faculty Advisor, Documentation Officer, FSCS Global Learning Assistant, Placements and Partnerships Manager, Associate Dean and Dean.
