Grade Review

In the case where a student would like to formally challenge grading connected to a field placement course, they have ten (10) business days after the receipt of the graded work or release of grades to ask for a grade review by the Placements and Partnerships Manager.

Preliminary Steps Toward Resolution

If a student has questions or concerns regarding their placement course failure, they should discuss the matter with their Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor. The Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor may conduct a Placement Assessment together with the student and Placement Supervisor. The Program Coordinator and/or Placements and Partnerships Manager may be asked to assist if the Seminar Instructor/Faculty Advisor is unable to resolve the issue.

Formal Request for a Review of a Final Placement Course Grade

If a student is not satisfied with the outcome of the review with the Seminar Instructor/Faculty Supervisor and Program Coordinator, the student may submit a request in writing to the Placements and Partnerships Manager requesting a further review to later than ten (10) business days after the end of the term or training period within which the course or unit of instruction was offered. The request should be submitted on a Request to Review of a Final Grade Form. Forms are available from the Office of the Registrar or online: http://www.humber.ca/admissions/how-apply/academic-regulations

The Placements and Partnerships Manager will provide a written decision within ten (10) business days of receipt of the request unless both parties have mutually agreed to an extension.

Students can request the Dean of the FSCS to review the final decision of the Placements and Partnerships Manager. The assignment of a final course grade is a Faculty-level decision and may not be appealed to a College-Level Academic Appeal Panel except for reasons relating to breach of process in the handling of the Grade Review.
