Accessible Learning Services

Accessible Learning Services (ALS) is part of the Student Wellness and Accessibility Center (SWAC). ALS Consultants provide needs assessments and work collaboratively with students, Field Placement Coordinators, Seminar Instructors/Faculty Advisors and Placement Employers to recommend accommodations that will enhance the student’s positive experience. Students with disabilities (including mental health related disabilities) can connect with ALS to assess accommodations at any time during their program. When barriers to learning and performance are identified in the field, ALS offers a range of supports including academic and field related accommodations, assistive technology training and learning supports.

Placement accommodations are actioned to support the academic learning tailored to correspond with the specific program requirements and the individual students' disability-related needs.

Students are encouraged to notify their ALS Consultant regarding upcoming field placement so that accommodations can be identified. The ALS Consultant may need to contact the Field Placement Coordinator and Seminar Instructor/Faculty Advisor in order to identify appropriate accommodations.
