Students who have experienced a placement course failure, must sit a period of rustication before they will be allowed to resume in a field placement. This period of time is a minimum of one term, but possibly more depending on the program progression, course availability and nature of the failure.
Before a student can re-enter the field after a placement course failure, the student will be required to write a reflection letter subject for approval by the Field Placement Coordinator. This letter should outline the learnings of the experience and what plans will be put in place in a future placement to allow for success. There is a cost to repeat or take the placement course in a different semester than when it occurs. For diploma programs, that cost is $440.00 and for degrees the cost is $660.00.
